PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make one means cover both the functions of a means for mounting an abrasion probe to the back plate of a frictional member with a retainer attached thereto, and a means for fixing an insulating lead wire to the probe body of the probe. SOLUTION: An abrasion probe 14 is so constituted that the leg parts 18b and 18c of an U-shaped insulating lead wire 18 are inserted into the through hole 16a and 16b in the axial direction of a probe body 16, and the probe body 16 is fitted in a back plate in such a way that the U-shaped bent part 18a of the insulating lead wire 18 will be positioned at the abrasion limit position W of an abrasion material 12. A slit 16f deeply in the radial direction arriving at the through holes 16a and 16b in the axial direction, is formed all over the entire circumference at the outer circumference of the probe body 16 projected out to the back plate side 10 far from the frictional material 12. A retainer 24 is locked in the inside of the slit 16f, and this constitution thereby prevents a column shaped probe body 16 from coming off with respect to the back plate 10. Besides, the leg parts 18b and 18c of the insulating lead wire 18 exposed out of the through holes 16a and 16b in the axial direction are fixed to the probe body 16 by the insulating lead wire fixing part of a retainer leg part.
