PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant hardly providing corrosion to a metal, having good extreme-pressure properties and useful for a metal-processing oil, a gear oil or the like. SOLUTION: This lubricant is represented by formula I (R1 to R3 are each a hydrocarbon; m is a number of 0 or >=1; k is a number of >=1; n is 1-2). The R1 is preferably a hydrocarbon such as 2-butyloctyl, 2-butyldecyl and 2- hexyloctyl represented by formula II (R4 and R5 are each a >=4C linear hydrocarbon, preferably a 4-20C alkyl; p is >=1). The lubricant is preferably used, when the lubricant is compatible, by blending 0.1-20 wt.% lubricant with a lubrication base oil, and when the lubricant is water-soluble, by blending 0.1-20 wt.% lubricant with water.
