PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a shift regulating device applicable to each machine type, to prevent overspeed of the engine in the shift operation by enabling the shift operation only at the low throttle opening, and to prevent the shift operation in a state where the engine speed is high. SOLUTION: In this shift regulating device provided on an outboard motor for performing the shift operation by converting the rotation of a shift handle 15 to be rotated around a bolt (a shaft) 14 perpendicular to a throttle shaft 4 to be rotationally operated by a throttle grip 7 into a linear motion, when the throttle opening exceeds the specified valve, the rotation of the shift handle 15 is locked to regulate the shift operation. Concretely, a cam 19 is attached to the throttle shaft 4, and a longitudinal rib 13e is formed on a part for pinching the cam 19 of a camp plate 13 to be rotated together with the shift handle 15. When the rotation amount of the throttle shaft 4 exceeds the specified value, the cam 19 attached to it is engaged with the longitudinal rib 13e formed on the cam plate 13 to lock the operation of the shift handle 15. |
