PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output printing instructions corresponding to the performance of each printer in a system, such as outputting the printing instruction from the server side to individual personal computers connected on a network. SOLUTION: For this printing instruction content setting method, a self- measuring profile 32 having items set for the self-measurement of printing performance for each print system 5 (composed of a computer 3 and a printer 4) is prepared corresponding to each printing system and by performing the self-measurement of performance of each print system on the basis of the contents of this self-measuring profile 32, information on the printing performance is collected automatically. Then, the collected result is recorded in the self-measuring result profile 32. When outputting the printing instruction from the server side to a certain print system, while by referring to the measured result of the self-measuring profile 32 corresponding to the print system to output the printing instruction, printing instruction contents are set.
