PURPOSE: A laundry detergent composition comprising hydrophobic solvent and hydrophilic solvent is provided which delivers improved stain removal on a variety of stains including bleachable stains, greasy stains, enzymatic stains and/or mud/clay stains. CONSTITUTION: A laundry detergent composition comprises from 0.0001 to 5% by weight of the total composition of an enzyme, a surfactant and a solvent system comprising a hydrophilic solvent, i.e., a solvent having a hydrophilic index of less than 15, and a hydrophobic solvent, i.e., a solvent having a hydrophilic index of more than 15, at a weight ratio of the hydrophilic solvent to the hydrophobic solvent of 10:1 to 2:1.
