PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine inducing the axial growth of the eyes of mature animals and useful for the therapy of the eyes for controlling the development of the eyes, especially for controlling the development of myopia, by adding a choline-operating agonist. SOLUTION: A medicine for inducing the axial growth of the eyes of mature animals contains a therapeutically effective amount of a choline-operating agonist. The choline-operating agonist is preferably carbamylcholine chloride, pilocarpine or M1 muscarine agonist McNeil-A-343. Pirenzepine, a muscarine antagonist having anti-choline eperability, is effective for blocking an axially growing myopia caused by the image blockage of the eyes of a chick. Telenzepine has an effect for blocking the axially growing myopia of mature animals. Other muscarine antagonists capable of being used as factors for blocking the axially growing myopia includes o-methoxy-sila-hexocyclium.
