PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the corrosion of a roll shaft part with molten metal and to extend the service life of a roll by positioning the rotating shaft of the roll always to the outside of the molten metal though the barrel part surface of the plated roll is dipped into the molten metal and coating the roll surface with iron boride or iron silicate. SOLUTION: The barrel part of the plated roll 5 in a continuous hot-dipping device, is dipped into the molten metal 4 but the shaft part 8 and bearing part 9 of the roll 5 are positioned to the outside of the molten metal 4 so that the shaft part 8 and the bearing part 9 do not receive the corrosion with the molten metal 4. It is desirable that the molten metal 4 is stored by arranging a groove on the surface of the roll 5 and the excess quantities of the molten metal 4 stuck to both surfaces of a copper plate 1 are equalized to almost equalize the plated thicknesses after gas wiping. As a material of the roll 5, steel material is used, but in the case of galvanizing, the roll surface is coated with the iron-boride, and in the case of zinc-aluminum alloy plating or aluminum plating, this surface is coated with the iron-silicate layer to keep the corrosion resistance to the molten metal 4.
