PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for an internet E-mail service in the advanced information communication processing system are to provide an internet E-mail service to PSTN subscribers and ISDN subscribers joined in the advanced information communication processing system and to perform a billing function. CONSTITUTION: A mail server(230) is composed of an MCMBD(Mail Connection Management Block Daemon)(231), a user information table(235), a POP3 server(232), a mail spool(234) and a mail transmission unit(233). The mail transmission unit(233) transmits a user's mail to a mail transmission unit(311) of a destination mail server(310). The POP3 server(232) transmits a spool file stored by the mail transmission unit(233) to a user terminal. The MCMBD(231) carries out a function to prevent an illegal user from accessing the POP3 server(232).
