PURPOSE: A composition comprising gamma-linolenic acid, its precursors, and other additives is provided for the treatment of atopic dermatonosis without any side-effects caused by applying moisturizing agent, antifungal agent, anti-inflammatory agent and such like comprising the composition to the skin. CONSTITUTION: A composition comprises one of essential fatty acids, gamma-linolenic acid, of which level in a person suffered from atopic dermatonosis is low due to low conversion rate of linolenic acid in serum, and of which source is soybean oils, evening primrose oils, sunflower seed oils, borage seed oils, black currant seed oils, kukui nut oils, and wheat germ oils, etc.; linolenic acids as a gamma-linolenic acid precursor; water protection agents such as ceramide, phytosphingosine, tetraacetylphytosphingosine, pyrolidone carboxylic acid, glycerine, propyleneglycol, urea, and hyaluronic acid, etc.; anti-inflammatory agents such as aspirin, indomethacin, and chamomile extract, etc.; anti-microbial agents such as methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, glydant, trichlosan, and unidiacide; and itch inhibition agents such as anti-histamine agents.
