PURPOSE: An optical cord and the manufacturing method therefor are provided to be easily manufactured by simple process by forming a layer of super polymer polyethylene, which is strong against external tensile strength, onto a resin layer of the optical fiber ribbon. CONSTITUTION: Polyethylene layers(25) having a high tensile strength are coated around a plurality of single-core optical fibers(10). The successive resin layers(21,23) having predetermined thickness are simultaneously coated on peripheral surfaces of the polyethylene layers(25). The polyethylene layers(21,23) are made of acrylate based synthetic resin, and the tensile layers(25) are made of super polymer polyethylene.
