PURPOSE: A transmission device and method for a code division multiple access(CDMA) communication system are provided so that a PN diffusion function can be processed by one bit by operating a function of supplying a gain to channels after diffusion. CONSTITUTION: A transmission device for a CDMA communication system includes the following units. An orthogonal modulator(311) performs orthogonal modulation by multiplying a channel coded transmission signal by an orthogonal code. Here, a Walsh code may be used as the orthogonal code. A diffusion unit(313) diffuses a band by multiplying the output from the orthogonal modulator(311) by a PN sequence in bit units. A gain controller(321) controls channel gains by adding the band diffused signal to a gain control value of a channel outputted to a control unit. A modulator(323) performs modulation by dividing the gain controlled transmission signal into an I channel signal and a Q channel signal. As a result, the hardware of the transmission device can be easily embodied by exclusively ORing a multiplier for PN diffusion by controlling a gain after the PN diffusion.
