The method involves determining whether one of the two sub-inverters (1,2) can continue to be operated after detecting faulty functioning of the inverter. If a sub-inverter can continue to be operated then the sub-inverter is maintained in operation and the operation of the other one is terminated. Independent claims are also included for a controller for a inverter and for an electrical inverter.
