PURPOSE: A channel selection device by speech recognition in a television receiver is provided to switch automatically channels according to a stored voice of a specific character. CONSTITUTION: A channel selection device by speech recognition in a television receiver comprises a voice signal storage portion(232), a voice signal detection portion(234), a voice signal analysis portion(236), a voice signal comparison portion(238) and a micro computer(218). The voice signal storage portion stores voice signals of a first channel according to a control signal. The voice signal detection portion detects voice signals received from a second channel. The voice signal analysis portion analyzes the detected voice signals. The voice signal comparison portion compares the output form the voice signal analysis portion with the voice signals stored in the voice signal storage portion. The microcomputer provides a control signal for storing the voice signals and a selection signal for receiving broadcasting of the second tuner.
