PURPOSE: A method for displaying receiving messages is provided to receive character messages without changing a TV phone mode to a phone mode by displaying the received character messages on the bottom of a TV screen. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises the steps of: receiving a character message transmitted through a forward channel from a base station in the state that a video and voice signal reproduced from a TV unit is output through a display unit and a voice signal processor(102); and displaying the received character message on a screen of the display unit during an interval of the generation of a character insertion signal(108). A step(118) may be further included for cleaning the displayed character message to display only TV images in response to an input of an end signal.
