PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize the natural color of colored cocoon for a practical knitted or woven fabric by enhancing the binding of a pigment contained in the colored cocoon to silk yarns. SOLUTION: Yarns obtained from colored cocoon and their woven or knitted fabric are treated with the aqueous solution of alum to enhance the binding of a pigment contained in the colored cocoon to the silk yarns and clarify the pigment mainly existing in sericin. The treatment using the aqueous solution of the alum may be carried out before or after either of a scouring process for silk yarns or their twisted yarns and a scouring process for the knitted or woven fabric. White silk yarns or white silk fabric may be immersed in the aqueous solution of the alum extracted from the colored cocoon to dye the white silk yarns or white silk fabric with the pigment. Further, the yarns and the knitted or woven fabric which are obtained from the colored cocoon and whose pigment is fixed by the treatment using the aqueous solution of the alum. |
