PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of a frictional heat without damaging a surface of a knocking member by rotatably supporting a rotary roller to an end of a knocking pusher in a lead inspector for a side knock type mechanical pencil of a constitution in which its end is repeatedly brought into pressure contact with the knock from a window hole and retracted from the knock. SOLUTION: A knocking pusher 6 is mounted at an oscillatory shaft 5 mounted at a jig holder 1 and repeatedly oscillating in a direction of an arrow in a short time. A window hole 7 is formed at a portion of a jig 4 opposed to a side knock 2 to constitute the lead inspector for a side knock type mechanical pencil. A bearing 8 is mounted at an end of the pusher 6 to pivotally secure a roller 9. When the inspector is not operated, the roller 9 is disposed in the hole 7 as indicated by solid lines, while when the inspector is operated, the roller 9 pushes the knock 2 while sliding the knock 2 obliquely downward. Since the roller 9 of a pressing member is rotated at the bearing 8 as a center, the generation of frictional heat is suppressed without damaging the surface of the knock 2.
