PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove contaminant adhering to a medical instrument to be disinfected by dipping a medical instrument in processing liquid of a washing and disinfecting liquid formulation containing hydrogen peroxide and urea in a specified range, and then applying a d.c. current to the processing liquid. SOLUTION: A medical instrument is dipped in a washing and disinfecting liquid formulation containing hydrogen peroxide with concentration of 0.05-5 W/V%, in which H2- ion and H+ ion are partly dissociated in a processing liquid and urea with concentration of 0.005-10 W/V% in the processing liquid for producing chaotropic effect. A d.c. current is applied to an electrode using metal such as stainless steel, platinum, gold, copper, nickel, titanium or the like, or a carbon rod in the processing liquid of the washing and disinfecting liquid formulation. By the application of an electric current, hydrogen peroxide is electrolyzed, an organic matter which is an ingredient of contaminant is decomposed by the action of oxygen radical having strong oxidizing force generated in the process of such reaction, and by the action of urea, the contaminant is made easy to be dissolved in the processing liquid so as to enable sure disinfection. |
