PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vaccine effect enhancer which, when orally administered to enhance a vaccine effect, can exhibit a vaccine effect without acidolysis with gastric juice by using a β-1,3-glucan having a degree of branching of at least 75%. SOLUTION: Provided is a vaccine effect enhancer for animals which contains a β-1,3-glucan having a degree of branching of at least 75% and represented by the formula [wherein m and n have such values that the degree (%) of branching = m/(m+n))×100=75-100%. By vaccinating a mother animal before parturition and feeding her with a vaccine effect enhancer containing the β-1,3- glucan as the active ingredient, it is possible to heighten the antibody titer of the vaccine and to increase the antibody titer of her colostrum. Further, it is possible that also the vaccine antibody titer of a baby animal fed with this colostrum can be enhanced, and that the baby animal can show such an accelerated body weight increase that the time taken to feed it until it is shipped for meat can be markedly shortened. |
