PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid ejector in which efficiency of energy utilization is enhanced, an actuator can be driven with large displacement and pressure variation rate is increased in pressurization chamber. SOLUTION: A liquid ejector comprises a liquid pressurization chamber 109, a liquid ejection opening 110 provided at a part of the liquid pressurization chamber 109, a liquid pressurizing member 103 disposed contiguously to the liquid pressurization chamber 109, and a liquid channel 108 made contiguously to the liquid pressurization chamber 109 wherein a liquid is ejected from the liquid ejection opening 110 by driving the liquid pressurizing member 103 to pressurize a liquid supplied to the liquid pressurization chamber 109. Cross-sectional area of the liquid pressurization chamber 109 normal to the displacement direction of the liquid pressurizing member is smaller than the area of the liquid pressurizing member 103.
