PURPOSE: An internal voltage generator is provided to prevent a layout area from being increased by reducing a capacitance of a phase compensating capacitor. CONSTITUTION: An internal voltage generator comprises a differential amplifier(2) which has an inverted input terminal(6), a non-inverted input terminal(7), an output terminal(A). A reference voltage generating circuit(3) generates a reference voltage(VREF), and supplies the reference voltage(VREF) to the non inverted input terminal(7). The inverted input terminal(7) of the amplifier(2) is connected to receive an output voltage(VINT). At the output terminal(A) of the differential amplifier(2) is connected the gate of a P-channel MOSFET(1) whose channel is connected between an external power supply voltage(Vcc) and the output voltage(VINT).
