PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a password stored on a floppy disk secret in order to perform backup for the password in a computer system having a password check function. SOLUTION: When an FD is loaded when a password is registered, a password storage position on the FD is calculated based on the value of the registered password (step S106). A key floppy is produced by storing the password in the calculated password storage position (step S107). When a system is powered on with the key floppy inserted, the password storage position on the key floppy is calculated based on the value of the registered password, and a password is read from there. When it coincides with the registered password of the system, the password registration is released, the system can be started without user's password input. |
