The invention concerns the fixing of appliances in racks using lock-fixing. The invention is characterised in that a device for fixing an apparatus (2) in a rack (1) comprises two fixing elements (5, 6) one of which is displaced by operating a handle (11), so as to co-operate with the other fixing element for fixing the apparatus (2) in the rack (1). The invention is further characterised in that locking means (12) located outside the rack (1), act on the handle (11) to lock it in the position wherein the two fixing elements (5, 6) co-operate to fix the apparatus (2). The invention is useful in particular for so-called onboard appliances, mounted for example in aeroplanes, tanks and the like.
