PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser diode drive circuit of high extinction ratio which can be operated at high speed. SOLUTION: This laser diode drive circuit comprises a laser diode 1 generating light, transistors 5, 6 for controlling the drive current of the laser diode 1, resistors 7, 8 for restraining the drive current of the laser diode 1, a circuit 9 for controlling the optical output power of the laser diode 1, and transistors 10, 11, 12, 13, resistors 14, 15, 16, 17, a positive power source 4 and a negative power source 18 which constitute a driver circuit of the transistors 5, 6.
