PURPOSE: A nonvolatile semiconductor memory device is to carry one operation mode for one group of memory cells while carrying one different operation mode for another different group of memory cells simultaneously. CONSTITUTION: A first high voltage is applied on one bank thereof while a second high voltage is applied on the other bank simultaneously, for a nonvolatile memory device having at least two banks. As a result, while the one bank carries one operation mode(for example, program mode), the other bank carries a different operation(for example, reading mode). Therefore, the operation rate of the nonvolatile semiconductor memory device is increased.
