PURPOSE: A controlling method of a microwave oven and a device thereof are provided to compensate cooking temperature according to the change of supply voltage. CONSTITUTION: A strength of voltage input to a microwave oven is detected. Cooking time is determined according to the strength of the input voltage. The cavity temperature is sensed during the determined cooking time. The cooking time according to the cavity temperature is compensated. Thereby, a microwave oven is controlled. The determination of cooking time is completed by setting cooking time shorter than standard cooking time when input voltage is higher than standard voltage and setting cooking time longer than standard cooking time if the input voltage is lower than standard voltage. The compensation of cooking time is performed when cavity temperature is lower than standard temperature based on the current cooking time.
