In the present invention there is disclosed a pharmaceutical preparation in the form of a gel for local treating skin diseases and for preventive therapy, which pharmaceutical preparation contains more than 90 percent of a drying and/or protein-coagulating lower alcohol having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a mixture of alcohols, preferably ethanol and optionally additional adjuvants and auxiliary substances, further a gel-forming matter, which ensures good adherence to skin and which gives matrix form to the alcohol or the mixture of alcohols, and which inhibits evaporation of the alcohol and which forms after gel drying a protective plastic layer on the skin.
