The ring is formed on one of its two opposite circumferential edges (12) with two spaced recesses (14) between which an opening edge (16) is fixed for a crown bottle closure. The ring can have a flat surface element (18) like a signet ring whereby the two recesses are arranged on the section of the ring diametrically opposite the flat element. The flat surface element can include with the rest of the ring an angle other than 90 degrees whereby the two recesses are formed on the edge which includes an obtuse angle with the flat element. The distance between the two recesses corresponds to the distance between at least two tines of a crown cap.
