PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet material transport controlling device adjusting an end edge of a sheet material to a prescribed position to precisely transport the sheet material when the sheet material is transported at a low speed or is at a standstill. SOLUTION: This device comprises an end detecting sensor 15 detecting the position of an end edge 12 of a transported sheet material 11 at a first position A and sending end position information output which indicates a position of the end edge 12 of the sheet material 11; an end position adjusting means 20 for adjusting the end edge 12 of the sheet material 11 at the first position A to a prescribed position on the basis of the end position information output, at a second position B this side from the first position A relative to a transporting direction of the sheet material 11; an encoder 35 sending measuring completion output by measuring a specified period L during the sheet material 11 moves from the second position B to the first position A; and a controller 40 for controlling a transport state of the sheet material 11 by driving the end position adjusting means 20 on the basis of the end position information output when the measuring completion output is fed.
