The invention relates to a method for producing a configured plastic substrate in an injection molding machine for a normal CD in which a molding plate (16) and a master plate (17) are assembled as a female die in order to form an injection mold, whereby the data is stored in an optically readable manner on the master plate in a data region (7) corresponding to a mini CD. Said data is stored in a coaxially manner with regard to the center of the master plate. In order to shape the outer geometric profile of the configured substrate with a non-circular outer contour, the sealing lips (21) are shaped on the molding plate (16) according to the predetermined outer configuration of the substrate. The invention also relates to an injection mold and to the application of said method or of said injection mold in order to produce data carriers in the shape of business cards.
