PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square-shaped chip resistor on which the electric discharge between the upper surface electrodes can be suppressed and resistance value is hardly changed. SOLUTION: This chip resistor is composed of an insulated substrate 11, a pair of upper surface electrode 12 provided on both ends of the upper surface of the insulated substrate 11, a resistor 14 positioned between the pair of electrodes 11 and provided overlapping on a part of the electrode 12, and a protective film 15 covering the most of the pair of electrode 12 and the resistor 14.
