PURPOSE: A device for protecting a PDP(Plasma Display Panel) module is provided to prevent a panel part from being damaged caused by OSD(On Screen Display) sign, and to inform a user of a present mute state. CONSTITUTION: A tuner(10) converts and outputs a signal frequency by selecting and amplifying a received channel wave. An intermediate frequency processor(11) outputs an image signal by amplifying the intermediate frequency from the tuner. Then, a synchronization deciding unit(17) inputs the image signal from the intermediate frequency processor, decides if a channel has a signal and transmits a corresponding signal to a microcomputer(16). A video processor(12) makes a complex image signal and amplifies a brightness signal. Then the processor outputs the amplified brightness signal, a returning color signal, a vertical horizontal synchronous signal and a color burst by dividing independently. The microcomputer turns off an LED(31) if there of a signal according to a screen mute and turns on the LED if there isn't. Also the microcomputer feeds the screen mute to a signal controller(32). The signal controller inputs a digital image signal from an interface unit(15) and outputs the digital signal controlled by the screen mute of the microcomputer.
