A window assembly 1, for a building, has at least one moveable panel; an electrically operated actuating means, for moving each panel between an 'open' position and a 'closed' position, and panel holders for mounting each panel onto the actuating means. Preferably at least two moveable panels are provided, the movement of each moveable panel being independently controllable. The actuating means may be controlled by means of controls 5 mounted on the window assembly or by a remote control system. The actuating means may include at least one hydraulically operated jack 9 and 10. When open the moveable panel may be positioned within a unit below, above or adjacent to the window or behind a fixed glazed base panel. |
