PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a PDP reduced in occurrence of pixel faults due to breakage of barrier ribs without controlling the combination of a front panel and back panel that forming a pair. SOLUTION: A low-melting point glass paste is printed on portions in areas between neighboring write electrodes 6 on a surface 10S1 of a glaze layer 10 by using a screen printing method and baked. A low-melting point glass paste made by dispersing glass powder 73 in a binder is printed on upper surfaces of barrier rib base parts 72 by using the screen printing method. Then, the printed paste is baked into a semi-sintered state at a temperature lower than the softening point of the glass powder 73 by 40 deg.C or more and higher than a temperature capable of turning the paste into a de-binder state, to form barrier-rib top parts 71. When projections on a cathode film 4 make contact with the barrier-rib top parts 71, the glass powder 73 is made finer and remains in a phosphor layer 8, and therefore occurrence of pixel faults due to breakage of barrier ribs can be reduced.
