PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as an excellent anti-Helicobacter pylori agent, containing a nitrogen atom in a quinoline ring subjected to -O- acylation or -O-alkylation, etc. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by formula (R1 is an acyl, a lower alkyl, a lower alkenyl or the like which may contain a 1-7 substituent groups; R2 is n-nonyl or 2-nonenyl) such as 3-methyl-2-((E)-2-nonenyl)-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-1- quinolyl acetate. The compound of the formula is obtained, for example, in the case of exemplified compound, by reacting 1-hydroxy-3-methyl-2-((E)-2- nonenyl)-4-oxo-1,4-dihydroquinoline with acetic anhydride in a solvent such as pyridine, etc. The compound is effective for preventing and treating a digestive ulcer such as stomach ulcer, duodenal ulcer, etc., an inflammation such as acute and chronic gastritis, etc., duodenitis, etc.
