PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side-cut excavator capable of easily conducting the execution of works rapidly. SOLUTION: A leader 14 is disposed in upright onto a self-propelled truck 12 with a caterpillar 11, and a hoisting frame 16 is installed slidably to the leader 14. A feed base 28 with a power swivel 30 is fixed onto the hoisting frame 16, and an excavation cutter 32 is connected to the power swivel 30. The hoisting frame 16 is lowered while driving the excavation cutter 32 and a ground is excavated at a stretch up to a specified depth by the excavation cutter 32, the self-propelled truck 12 is made to travel in the lateral direction, and the ground is excavated continuously in the lateral direction. The hoisting frame 16 is pulled up by a winch 22 after the completion of excavation, and the excavation cutter 32 is drawn up at a stretch from the ground and recovered.
