PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an inductance from a power supply of a rear end of a rail to the vicinity of an armature and to improve an accelerating efficiency by specifying a lateral width of a rail in an apparatus for accelerating an airframe by an armature slidably arranged between a pair of rails. SOLUTION: Insulating plates 21 are respectively provided at opposed surface sides of rails 1a, 1b provided at an interval by a plurality of columnar supports 20. The plates 21 are formed in a lengthwise shape and provided with guide grooves 21a not formed with the plate 21 to set an accelerating region 7. An airframe 2 and the armature 3 are slidably provided in the region 7. In this case, lateral widths of the rails 1a, 1b are set to at least three times as large as a distance S between the rails to reduce an inductance from the power supply to the vicinity of the armature. A switch 5 is closed to supply a current from a power source 6 to the armature 3. Thus, the armature 3 is slid to accelerate and fly the airframe 2.
