PURPOSE: A method for playing a stored music to listen and a portable music player are provided to store music in a memory after downloading by using a modem and to reduce the size by not using a recording medium such as the existing compact disc or tape. CONSTITUTION: A portable digital music player is comprised of a telephone wire(302), a modem connection unit(303), a modem(304), a control unit(306), a storage unit(308), a display unit(310), a manipulation panel unit(312), a sound signal process unit(314), a player(316) and a speaker(138). Herein, the control unit is connected with a modem device(308) to control the connection of internet and controls to store a song signal down-loaded on the internet in the storage unit and to display the number and title of the stored song in the display unit. In addition, the control unit selects the number and title of the displayed song and feeds it to the sound signal processing unit.
