PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve safety, in a dishwasher wherein a washing tank is pulled out of a main body of the dishwasher and tableware is put into the washing tank so as to be washed by completely preventing high temperature washing water from scattering out, preventing water from leaking out, or preventing a scald from occurring even when the tableware is put into or taken out during a washing operation. SOLUTION: A washing tank 15 having an opening in its upper part and in which tablewares 3 are placed, can be pulled out of a body 14 of the dishwasher nearly in a horizontal direction, and when the tank 15 is put into the body 14 of the dishwasher, the opening of the tank 15 is sealingly covered with an inner cover 17. And the operation of the dishwasher can be started in response to an output of an inner cover open/closure sensor 20 for sensing whether or not the opening of the tank 15 is tightly closed by the cover 17.
