PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin composition which can give a product excellent in heat resistance and flame retardancy as well as high mechanical strength by mixing a specified amount of a carborane-containing silicon polymer having specified units as part of the structural units and having a specified weight- average molecular weight with a specified amount of an inorganic filler. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 100 pts.wt. carborane-containing silicon polymer having units of formula I, II, or III as part of the structural units and having a weight-average molecular weight of 500 or above and 3-300 pts.wt. inorganic filler. In the formulae, R1 and R2 are each an Si-bonded 1-20C alkyl or 6-30C aryl; R3 is a 1-20C alkylene or a 6-30C arylene, provided that the vinyl group is directly bonded to the silicon atom when R3 is null; Z is H, OH, a 1-20C alkoxyl, a 6-30C aryl, or a 1-20C alkoxyl; CBpHqC is a carborane being a cage-like boron (II) compound; and p and q are each 3-16.
