摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an energy confinement piezoelectric resonator which does not require any damping material nor excessive working process, can effectively suppress responses using a fundamental wave, and utilizes the threefold waves of thickness and vertical vibrations. SOLUTION: The energy confinement piezoelectric resonator is constituted in such a way that sealing substrates 3 and 4 are respectively laminated upon both main surfaces of a plate-like piezoelectric resonance element 2 utilizing the threefold waves of thickness and vertical vibration modes and sealed spaces 10 and 11 are formed for not obstructing the vibration of a vibrating section in which vibrating electrodes 6 and 7 are faced oppositely to each other. In addition, a sealed section is constituted by bonding the resonance element 2 and substrates 3 and 4 to the circumferences of the sealed spaces 10 and 11. The sealed spaces 10 and 11 are constituted so that the spaces 10 and 11 may meet a relation, 0<d/t<5, where (t) and (d) respectively represent the thickness of a piezoelectric substrate 5 and the shortest distance from the vibrating electrodes 6 and 7 to the sealed section.
