The method is used for recording requests for an elevator from a group of elevators between floors of a building, using remote controls. The method involves use of a remote control carried by each elevator user and includes: - transmission of a call indicating an elevator request, using a device carried by a person (43 - 45), when the person is on a given floor (20 - 22) and is at a walking distance from the elevator access door equivalent to five or six seconds; - receipt of the call at one of the elevators (1 - 4); - recording of the requested stop for the selected elevator to stop at the floor requested in the call; - check to determine is the person carrying the calling device is in close proximity to the elevator access door; - if the person of the selected elevator is in close proximity to the elevators access door when the selected elevator reaches a stop control point for the selected floor stop the elevators at the selected floor; - if the person is not in close proximity to the elevator access door, when the selected elevator reaches the stop control point, the floor stop request is negated until at least a stop has been requested for another floor by another user.
