The extrusion of soap, and the properties of soap bars, are improved by the presence of a minor amount (e.g. 0.3-10%) of a mono- and/or di-resinic acid ester of a polyethylene glycol having a M.W. of 400-10,000. The soap may also contain free alkali (e.g. NaOH), and various synthetic anionic detergents in the form of alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, zinc or aluminium salts. Detergents mentioned include fatty alcohol sulphates, fatty alcohol polyglycol ether sulphates, and condensation products of fatty acids with isethionic acid, taurine, N-methyltaurine, sarcosine and 2-aminopropane-sulphonic acid. |
