PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To release a viewing restriction based on rating setting contents without changing the contents by invalidating the viewing restriction based on the rating setting contents while holding the contents when a command for releasing the viewing restriction based on the rating setting contents is inputted. SOLUTION: When a person wants to temporarily release the viewing restriction (channel block) based on the rating setting contents after the execution of rating setting, a V-GUIDE key is depressed, a menu screen is displayed, an item 'V-GUIDE' is selected and, then, a volume down-key is depressed so that the viewing restriction is invalidated. Thus, the rating setting contents are held even in the case the viewing restriction is invalidated. Besides, when a power source off command is inputted, the power source of a receiver is turned off after forcibly validating the viewing restriction in the case the restriction is invalidated.
