PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate sheets fed double on a sheet carrying device. SOLUTION: A sheet carrying device is furnished with a first carrying roller pair 1 and a second carrying roller pair 7 arranged on a carrying route to guide sheets from the upstream to the downstream and to carry the sheets and a shutter body 8 energized to tilt so as to project a contact part 9 to receive a head end of the sheet fed to the second carrying roller pair to the carrying route, and it is furnished with a stopper part 10 to receive a head end of a sheet P2 stacked with a sheet P1 by projecting to the carrying route when the head end of the sheet makes contact with the contact part 9 and the shutter body is tilted.
