The invention discloses a tape printing device (5) comprising a memory for storing data presenting a memory (25) for storing data representing input characters and symbol, a tape (T) with detector (12), an enlargement printing command receiving means, a printing attribute determining means and printing means. In an enlargement printing mode a pseudo who's size is N-times that of a label obtained in a normal printing mode is obtained when ranging tape sections width-wise of the tape to join N-tape length sections side by side. A printing attribute of each of the tape sections is determined in accordance with data representing the characters and symbols stored in the memory, and the detected tape width. The printing means prints N character string portions serially on the tape, the character string is divided across the width of the tape in accordance with the printing attributes respectively corresponding to the tape length sections.
