A water-containing, solid cleaning agent with delayed, controllable and variable disintegration is claimed which is obtained by (i) increasing the viscosity an alkali liquor (especially 42-55% caustic-potash or -soda) by mixing with a hydroxy compound of formula HOCH2CH(R1)OR2 (I) and/or HOCH2CH(R8)3-xNHx (II), the amount of the liquor being 21-70 (35-55) wt.% and of (I) and/or (II) 0.5-40 (1-10) wt.% of the total composition; and then optionally (ii) adding, as solids, foam inhibitors and builders and/or paraffin oil and/or surfactants and/or polyhydroxy compounds such as glycerol and/or alkali hydroxides such as NaOH or KOH. (R1, R3, R5,R6 and R8 = H or Me; R2 = H, 1-4C alkyl, -CH2CH(R3)OR4 or -CH2CH(R5)OCH2CH(R6)OR7; R4 and R7 = H or 1-4C alkyl; and x = 0, 1 or 2). |
