PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ball joint of simple structure capable of being yielded with an enhanced manufacturability. SOLUTION: A housing 2 of an approx. bottom-equipped cylindrical form has an opening 5 at one end, and a coupling part 9 provided at the bottom 6 of the housing 2 is fitted in a holding hole 22 in an upper die 23 of a caulking machine 21 so that the housing 2 is secured. In the internal cavity of the housing 2 a bearing seat 4 is inserted in such a way as accommodating the spherical head 11 of a ball stud 3, which is inserted into and retained by a hole 24 in a lower die 25. The upper die 23 is sunk, and the peripheral edge of the opening 5 of the housing 2 which opens downward is caulked in deformation to the inner surface of a caulking recess 27 in the lower die 25. The cylindrical portion 28 provided at the edge between the recess 27 and hole 24 abuts to the inside circumferential edge of the end face of the opening 5 in such a way as biting into it. By press working, the inside circumferential edge of the opening 5 is furnished with a wall 8 protruding inward in a wall form and confronting an insert hole 15 provided in the bearing seat 4 with a certain gap reserved in between. The wall 8 to prevent the seat 4 from flowing can be formed by a single motion simultaneously with caulking.
