PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image concurrently improving a contrast and luminance and also improving picture quality. SOLUTION: A structure constituted of linearly arranged ribs and RGB phosphors is used as a luminescence unit, ribs between the luminescence unit are gray ribs 111 difficult in transmitting visible light, ribs in the luminescence unit are transparent ribs 110 easily transmitting visible light, the width of the ribs in the luminescence unit is made narrow as the practical method in particular, or the ribs are made of a transparent or white material. The width of the ribs between the luminescence units is made thick, and the ribs are made of a black material, e.g. a black glass 112.
