The pump has a spring-loaded pump piston (16) in a cylinder chamber (32) connected to a suction valve (18). The valve closure body (28) is loaded by a closure spring (35), which is supported on the pump piston. The spring is a helical pressure spring and is mainly contained in a longitudinal bore (33) in the pump piston. A bar-shaped shaft (36) of the closure body is guided in the spring. One end of the spring engages on the base (34) of the bore in the pump piston, the other end is supported on the valve plate (29) of the suction valve.
