PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide powder capable of affording a sintered compact small in the deterioration of elongation after corrosion and useful as the material for a sensor ring used for the anti lock system of an automotive blake and the mating parts in the other mechanism parts. SOLUTION: Ferritic stainless steel powder having a compsn. contg., by weight, 11 to 22% Cr, <=0.1% C, <=3.0% Si, <=0.30% Mn, <=2.0% Ni, 11 to 22% Cr, <=3.0% Mo, and the balance substantially Fe is added and mixed with a metallic compd. of B in such a manner that the quantity of B in the powdery mixture is controlled to 0.03 to <0.2% to form the powder for a sintered compact.
